However this email risk does not just fall with spammers. Employees receiving personal emails that contain jokes or attachments can also expose a company to viruses, security breaches and even negative publicity. The impact this can have on a company’s operations can be incredibly damaging. It can be time consuming, expensive and even affect its reputation. How many times have you received an email from your bank asking you to click on a link to verify your details? However, was it really your bank, or an imposter? Unfortunately, the latter option would almost certainly be the answer.
This type of practice is known as phishing. Phishing involves fraudsters sending out spam emails which appear to come from a legitimate source, usually well known brands, which attempt to steal your personal information such as PIN or credit card details. By requesting you click on a link, you are taken to what appears to be a genuine website. You are then asked to provide your personal information, which is then captured by these fraudsters. Victims of phishing can suffer financial loss or even have their whole identities stolen.
Businesses need to ensure they protect themselves against this bogus practice. But how do you determine what is real and what is phishing? Luckily, the next generation of anti spam technology is sophisticated enough to easily identify and remove these fraudulent emails from your account before you even see it.
At Message Stream, we let you plug into our award-winning anti spam technology which is so thorough; it virtually eliminates the threat of phishing. In fact, we can detect 99% of all spam that attempts to enter your network by scanning every email with our leading spam filter service. Any identified spam is simply removed – all without you having to deal with the hassle or worry about these types of threats to your business.

Businesses are faced daily with a constant onslaught of spam, which if not managed correctly, can cause a major strain to its resources – both financial and human. IT departments already have enough to contend with, without the worry of spam having the potential to wreak havoc across their network.
To add to this, there is a growing need for a business to have effective email archiving systems in place. Factors including business continuity planning, law requirements such as the data protection act 1998 and the increased ‘best practice’ approach of securely storing all company emails have led to this move towards email archiving.
To help contend with these factors, companies are now turning to hosted email security services that are safely managed offsite. Traditionally this has typically been the choice of small to medium businesses; however, as spam rates continue to grow, larger companies have also turned to outsourcing their email management security.
At Message Stream, we offer the complete hosted email management service that successfully shields your business against any email risk. Our leading anti spam service provides accurate filtering of spam, junk mail and viruses, whilst our secure archiving system then stores every one of your business emails – all done safely offsite. There is no expensive software to install and it can easily work with any mail server. You also get access to your own browser interface – myMessage Stream, providing up to date email reporting, analysis and end user statistics. So give your business the security it deserves.

Have you ever received an undeliverable email report – but have no recollection of sending the email in the first place? This type of activity is the result of spammers and is known as back-scatter which, unfortunately, is pretty common place today. As spammers generally send wide spread junk mail to thousands or even millions of email addresses, they are not particularly concerned with who receives their messages. However, any undeliverable messages are usually sent to a live email address – and the risk is, they choose yours to receive these messages.
While receiving the odd junk email may not be that disruptive, back-scatter can result in you being bombarded with a barrage of undeliverable emails, which can even see your address ending up on a spam blacklist. As frustrating as this can be, there is no central spam body you can report this to. You could possibly take legal action to track down these offenders who are forging your email address, but there is no telling the time and cost involved in doing so – especially for a business.
Fortunately, there is a way of filtering back-scatter before any of these undeliverable messages even reach your network.
Offering one of the most sophisticated back-scatter email filtering systems around, we at Message Stream can stop this form of spam becoming a problem for you. Our anti spam system can cleverly filter these undeliverable messages and successfully remove them before they begin to flood your network. So let us get to back-scatter before it gets to you.

Spam or junk email can be traced as far back as 1978 when a poorly written email was sent to multiple users, promoting a computer company’s open day. Back then the internet was known as the Arpanet, mainly used by universities and the government. This first known instance of spam sparked outrage, as it broke the Arpanet’s policy of sending only non-commercial emails.
Sadly, as we all know, spam caught on, and our inboxes became littered with junk mail that offered a whole host of useless or often bogus offers. Additionally, the threat of viruses is today still a concern as spammers continue to send unsolicited emails, which can potentially cause wide-spread damage to whole servers and be majorly disruptive to an organisation’s operations.
However, thanks to vast improvements in anti spam technology, modern networks can be effectively safeguarded against this type of email risk. The new generation of anti spam filters can now successfully detect most junk mail and block it before it even gets to your inbox.
At Message Stream, our award-winning anti spam service can detect up to 99% of junk mail – making it one of the most accurate catch rates available. Using the most advanced technology we catch, filter and blacklist spam before it even reaches your network. We can connect with all SMTP servers and our super fast scanning is done without any email delay. We do this without you having to lift a finger – letting you concentrate on the successful running of your business.

Spam emails are more prevalent in the world of cyberspace than any other form of legitimate email communication, and unfortunately, not all spam blocker technology is successful.
Spammers work hard to find new methods to penetrate spam filter, and there is a constant need for spam filter technology to stay ahead of those using the internet in an unscrupulous manner.
It is important to never open an email that is not recognised as legitimate, and even more important not to click on any internal links – or download any attachments – from a spam email because it can release viruses and phishing software into a computer system.
One of the most common ways in which people experience the loss of their private passwords, financial information, personal identification and any other critical data is when a phishing email has been clicked upon when it is received as spam in their inbox.
It is essential that spam filter software is always used, and although email account providers often supply spam filter technology, it is not always the best protection possible.
In order to get the best spam blocker protection possible, use experts who can provide the most advanced form of protection through spam services, which often means that spam is blocked before it even reaches an email system.
At Message Stream we provide optimal performance levels in the deployment of our spam service, protecting large organisations, governments and SMEs across the UK with the highest protection from spam blocker technology.

Many people feel they are savvy when it comes to spam emails and spam filters, and are often convinced that they would never fall victim to a spammer or unsolicited email, but unfortunately they still do – and it happens frequently.
In order to avoid the constant spam targeting of phishing emails, such as those mentioned, it is essential that none of the spam emails received are answered in any way. Replying to spam emails will be acknowledging to a spammer that the email address is live, and the email has been read; this will lead to more spam.
The spam email threats that cause immeasurable damage to a computer system are those that come through with email attachments containing viruses, and one of the most lethal of these is a Trojan virus. If a Trojan virus enters your computer system, the use of a computer is seriously impaired, and data will be damaged.
If a spam email has an attachment which is downloaded or opened in any way, then it could mean a virus has been released into a computer system – which could destroy information and render a computer, and every computer on its network (if connected), unusable and corrupt.
As the experts in the provision of spam services, at Message Stream we are able to eliminate 98% of spam emails that target email accounts. We are trusted by some of the largest companies within the UK to protect them against virus, phishing and spam email attacks.

Any person using the internet is going to be targeted in some way by spam at some stage. If an email is received from what appears to be a financial organisation which you use, check the legitimacy of the request without clicking on the email at all.
For instance, the email may read ‘please click this link to unblock your account.’ Rather than clicking, simply go directly to your internet browser and type in the correct address, ensuring you check that all is in order with your financial account. Always delete any phishing emails that have managed to penetrate your spam filter.
Any person that does click upon a spam email requesting their private financial information, and inputs the details they have been asked for, is at risk of being hijacked by a scammer. Simply put, if you have been asked for the password and other details of your bank account, PayPal account or other, and provide them as requested through the spam email, you have passed all your personal information to a scammer, who may then be able to access your funds themselves.
There is another type of spam email which has become a popular online scam: an email which comes through suggesting that a person is a lucky winner of the lottery; these too should be avoided.
We at Message Stream have many years of experience with our cutting-edge spam services, protecting government authorities and police departments, as well as private UK firms against violation and threats.

Most people use some kind of basic spam filter on their email, and any spam that does get through this filter is normally ignored and deleted by a person who is familiar with using the internet. For those people who are not used to the internet, opening up a spam email by mistake, thinking it is legitimate, could lead to dire consequences.
There are various forms of spam, namely search engine spam and email spam, which is the one most people encounter.
The majority of spam emails that are received cover a range of topics: ‘get rich quick’, gambling or sexual emails such as Viagra. However, recently more spam emails are requesting sensitive information.
Some of the spam emails that request private information from an individual can look quite legitimate, and often they appear to have been sent by a bank, eBay or PayPal for example; these types of emails are known as “phishing scam emails.”
If there is any doubt at all about the legitimacy of the email source, then it is essential the link contained within the email is not clicked upon as it will direct a person to an external website, which was set up to capture critical information for fraudulent reasons.
We at Message Stream are experts in the provision of spam blocker and spam services, eliminating 98% of spam before it reaches an email inbox. We are trusted by the UK’s largest companies, along with government authorities and police departments, to protect against spam violation.
